![]() Despite repeated attempts to escape the confines of their Steel Cage Match, Chris Jericho could not avoid Edge’s determined onslaught and fell victim to a hard-hitting Spear from The Rated-R Superstar. In a Steel Cage Match, victory can only be achieved through pinfall, submission, or by escaping the cage. At the start of the night, Edge flatly stated that his game plan did not include leaving the cage. Early in the match, Jericho had the chance to walk out of the cage door while Edge was down, but instead he turned and reentered the cage to go after The Rated-R Superstar. The decision proved to be a huge mistake for Jericho. Similarly, Edge had a chance to climb out of the cage, but instead chose to remain to inflict more punishment on his rival. Despite Jericho’s pleas for mercy, Edge reveled in dishing out repeated pain and suffering. Then, just when it looked like Jericho could take no more, The Ultimate Opportunist put him out of his misery with a brutal Spear.
Edge and Chris Jericho confronted each other before Extreme Rules Standing inside a steel cage, Chris Jericho described the ways he will use the dreaded structure to end Edge’s career at Extreme Rules. Despite The Rated-R Superstar’s obviously injured ankle, he emerged with resolve and soon went on the extreme offensive. Although his decorated pay-per-view opponent was able to escape Edge’s onslaught, he left his WWE NXT Rookie Wade Barrett locked inside the cage to take the full force of the enraged Ultimate Opportunist’s Spear. Rey Mysterio, Edge & Triple H def. CM Punk, Chris Jericho & Luke Gallows Just six days until Extreme Rules, a battalion of the pay-per-view’s competitors converged in a Six-Man Tag Team Match pitting Rey Mysterio, Edge & Triple H against CM Punk, Chris Jericho & Luke Gallows. In the run-up to the highly anticipated Steel Cage Match, Edge faced down his former partner Jericho, who punished his rival by crushing his ankle. Punk also sent Mysterio a message in the lead up to their Extreme Rules contest. The match’s conclusion, however, seemed fitting since it was Raw Superstar Triple H who led his team to victory by pinning SmackDown’s Straight Edge spiritual guide, CM Punk. Related Links:
