In Jim Ross’s latest blog he commented on the Edge retirement rumors and here is what he had to say:

I have not read the latest dirt that Edge is contemplating retirement. Honestly speaking, any athlete that is Edge’s age, he’s still young but has been in wrestling a long time, and has had his laundry list of injuries must obviously ‘think’ about their future if they are smart and Edge is a very smart guy. Edge has earned exceptionally well and he’s been admirably smart with his funds. I see Edge sticking around and contributing a few more years but he will not be one of the guys who’s 50 or more and still wrestling at the local, VFW Hall for grocery money. Edge is a true student of the game and still has so much to give and him being on Smackdown is timely and smart positioning for WWE.

Think talk is cheap? Try telling that to the 25 Superstars on this list. When Edge first arrived in WWE in 1998, he was a mysterious, stoic character who never spoke a word. How times have changed. First finding his voice as sarcastic, kazoo-tooting slacker alongside his longtime tag team partner, Christian, the former WWE Champion truly captured his persona when he become the The Rated-R Superstar. Toeing the line of sanity, Edge has never had a problem being completely honest on the mic, calling out rivals and turning on allies in his never-ending pursuit to reign atop WWE. The Ultimate Opportunist’s madness often gets the better of him, but Edge is always worth listening to.

Edge versus Dolph Ziggler in a Team Smackdown Qualifying Match

They lock up and Edge with a waist lock. Ziggler with a standing switch. Edge with an arm drag take down into an arm bar. Edge punches Ziggler and kicks Dolph. Edge punches Ziggler in the back and we see Vickie and Kaitlyn in the back watching on a monitor.

Edge with forearms to Ziggler followed by an Irish whip. Edge slides under Ziggler and Edge trips Ziggler. Edge sends Ziggler into the turnbuckles. Edge with a head butt but Ziggler with a forearm and he chokes Edge in the ropes. Ziggler with a snap mare and then he hits a leap frog neck snap and gets a near fall. Ziggler with a chin lock and arm bar on Edge.

They get back to their feet. Edge Irish whips Ziggler and Dolph goes to the floor. Edge with a baseball slide that takes Ziggler down. Edge sends Ziggler back into the ring and Edge takes too long to get back into the ring so Ziggler is able to recover and he kicks Edge and then hits a neck breaker on Edge as he continues to work on the surgically repaired neck. Ziggler gets a near fall on Edge and then he kicks him in the chest. Ziggler with another near fall. Ziggler with an elbow drop but Edge with punches. Edge with an Irish whip but Dolph with an elbow. Dolph goes to the turnbuckles but Edge kicks Dolph off the turnbuckles and Dolph goes to the floor. Edge tries for a spear on the floor but Dolph moves out of the way and Edge hits the ringside barrier. Dolph with a Zig Zag into the steps.

Ziggler returns to the ring and Edge is on the floor but he is able to get back into the ring before the ten count. Ziggler shows his frustration with punches and kicks to Edge as we go to commercial.

We are back and Ziggler with a reverse chin lock, arm bar, and body scissors. Edge gets back to his feet but Ziggler with elbows to the neck but he misses a splash into the corner. Edge with a flapjack and both men are down. Edge with a few clotheslines followed by a face plant for a near fall. Ziggler with a kick and he gets a sunset flip but Edge rolls through and he catapults Ziggler into the ring post. Edge with an Edge-o-Matic and he gets a near fall.

Ziggler punches Edge and then he tries for a sleeper but Edge is able to prevent Ziggler from locking it in. Edge with an Impaler DDT for a near fall. Ziggler sends Edge into the turnbuckles and Ziggler tries for another Zig Zag but Edge holds on to the ropes. Edge pulls his hair to signal that he is getting ready for the spear. Ziggler leap frogs Edge and then Ziggler goes to the turnbuckles but when he comes off the turnbuckles, Edge hits a Spear for the three count.

Winner: Edge

Edge has had his problems with many Superstars in WWE, but recently his biggest problem has been with the anonymous GM of Raw. The GM has driven Edge to the brink of insanity, enough where Edge snapped and took it out on the GM’s laptop by viciously destroying it with a chair. The GM was so furious, he sent Edge packing to SmackDown. With this move, Edge couldn’t be gladder. To show how happy he is, Edge signed that very chair he used on the GM’s laptop for a member of the WWE Universe to bid on.

Making the move to SmackDown this week, Edge targeted Jack Swagger as his latest victim in his war against stupidity.

Teddy Long comes out and he says that it is his distinct pleasure to introduce the newest superstar on Smackdown. It is a man he personally traded for, Edge.

Edge comes to the ring while Michael Cole explains why Edge was traded to Smackdown. Cole tells us that he is here because last night Miz said that he was a visionary.

Jack says that he is glad that Edge was traded back to his show. He wants to ruin Edge’s return to Friday night the same way that Edge ruined his return to Oklahoma. Swagger says that Edge ruined his return by spearing his personal mascot, the Swagger Soaring Eagle. Swagger wants to know why because he is friendly and the children love him. Swagger says that the Eagle is an endangered species and then he says that it is hard to get insurance for

Edge says that he wants Swagger to come to the ring so he can make him look stupid in three seconds. Edge then tells Swagger that he has no problem flipping the bird.

Swagger has to hold the Eagle back.

Edge versus Jack Swagger with the Swagger Soaring Eagle

They lock up and Swagger backs Edge into the corner and he goes for the ankle but Edge is in the ropes. Swagger goes for the leg again and he takes him down with a heel trip. Edge gets in the ropes and Swagger releases the hold. Swagger with a waist lock and take down and then he rides Edge and slaps him in the head and does push ups on Edge’s back. Edge goes to the floor and Swagger brings the Eagle onto the apron. Edge returns to the ring and Edge tries for a spear but he hits the Eagle instead of Jack and then the Eagle is knocked out.

We are back and Edge with a spinning heel kick. Edge with an Irish whip and Edge is sent to the apron and Swagger drops Edge’s arm on the top rope and Edge goes to the floor. Swagger pulls Edge’s shoulder into the ring post. Edge gets back into the ring and Swagger gets a near fall. Swagger with a key lock and then he hits a single arm DDT and gets a near fall. Swagger wraps Edge’s arm in the ropes as he continues to wear him down. Swagger works on the shoulder but Edge with punches. Swagger misses a cloteshline and Edge with a forearm and then he sends Swagger into the ropes with a drop toe hold and he hits a cross body to the back and gets a near fall.

Swagger catches Edge and hits a back breaker. Swagger goes for the double jump Swagger bomb but Edge moves out of the way. Edge with an elbow but Swagger pulls Edge off the turnbuckles and Edge counters with a tornado DDT. Edge gets a near fall. Edge goes to the turnbuckles and Swagger grabs Edge and hits a belly-to-belly suplex and gets a near fall. Edge goes to the floor and then he drops Swagger on the top rope. Edge sets for the spear as he pulls at his hair. Swagger blocks it but Edge tries for a sunset flip. Swagger goes for the ankle but Edge kicks him away. Swagger tries for the Doctor Bomb but Edge counters with an Edge-o-Matic and he gets a near fall.

Swagger goes for the ankle lock but Edge rolls through and gets a near fall. Swagger with a kick and then Edge sends Swagger into the turnbuckles. Edge with a spear for the three count.

Winner: Edge

After the match, Edge gets on the mic and he tells Swagger that he definitely flipped the bird tonight.

Edge comes out to the ring and says he’s not apologizing for anything. Edge says he’s on a personal crusade against everything stupid. Edge says there’s a lot of stupid stuff on RAW including the GM and Cole. Edge says he would rather hear a recording of Jim Ross than Cole. Edge says when he becomes WWE Champion, the GM will see some real attitude. The e-mail alert goes off and Cole laughs. Cole says we will determine the next #1 contender tonight and it will be done in a 20 man over-the-top battle royal. The winner will face Randy Orton for the WWE Title at Bragging Rights. The GM says Edge won’t be in the match because he’s been officially traded to SmackDown. The crowd chants spear. Edge says this is one of the greatest nights of his career because he doesn’t have to deal with the GM or Cole anymore. Cole says since he is the voice of WWE, Edge needs to show him respect. Edge threatens Cole and The Miz’s music hits.

The Miz comes out with Alex Riley and heads down to the ring. Miz says Edge won’t hurt Cole. Miz puts over Cole and calls him a visionary, one who saw Miz’s awesomeness before anyone else. Cole leaves the podium and goes back to the announcer’s table. Edge calls Miz an Edge wannabe. Miz says he and Edge are nothing alike and Edge agrees, because he’s been WWE Champion. Edge recalls some other things he’s done that Miz hasn’t and rips on Alex Riley. Riley fires back at Edge and says Miz is the future of WWE. Edge says Miz is awesome… at tapping out to Daniel Bryan. A “you tapped out” chant breaks out. Miz says he’s either going to be competing in a WWE Title match at Bragging Rights or he’s going to be leading his RAW team into beating SmackDown’s team. Miz tells Edge to go to SyFy and tell all his friends that The Miz is awesome. Edge decks Riley and Miz, sending Miz into the podium. Edge spears Riley. Edge stands up and Miz lays him out with the Skull Crushing Finale. Miz’s music hits and he heads to the back with Riley.

Del Rio cuts a promo on the fans in Texas. He says he can buy every single one of them. Del Rio says he is better than everyone and says he is going to challenge…. Edge’s music interrupts and out he comes to the ring.

Edge says he is out here not to defend anyone, but to fight against stupidity. Edge says Del Rio has some parts of him that are stupid. Del Rio says he isn’t stupid, he’s the man who’s going to hurt you. Edge says Del Rio’s wink is stupid, his ring announcer is stupid and his scarf. It looks like we’re about to see a fight when Jack Swagger’s music hits and out he comes. Swagger says what’s stupid is a Canadian and an American arguing while he, the All-American, isn’t even wrestling tonight. Swagger is upset about Edge’s actions on Friday. Edge attacks Swagger but gets beatdown by Del Rio and Swagger. Del Rio slips away when the e-mail alert from RAW’s General Manager comes in. It’s announced that on RAW tomorrow, Edge must apologize to the GM. It’s also announced Edge vs. Swagger will take place right now. Continue reading »
